What the f#&k is “Hanging w/ our Homies”?

This year we started a fun new event each month that we so kindly like to call, “Hanging w/ our Homies”. But maybe you’ve read that title and thought…. “what the eff is that?”

No worries… I’ll explain it to you.

In the beer world we all have these very unique relationships called friendships. It’s a pretty mind-blowing concept in the world of business because we all love each other and want to support each others goals and build a community for you the consumer (whom we also consider our friends).

Because of that idea we started the “Hanging w/ our Homies”. Every fourth Thursday night of the month, we invite a brewery that we love into our taproom to share their beers and their love of beer with you. They take over 2-3 of our taps and some fridge space with their bottles and then stay to answer questions and share a pint with you. You can ask them how they make their beer, why they love beer or even what color underwear they have on. It’s up to you. But it’s a time we created so that we can all get together and celebrate what we love most. That beer stuff.

So come. Enjoy. Have a pint. Ask a question. Hug a brewer.

Every fourth Thursday.

Staff Bottle Pick: August

For August we decided to let our newest face in the team, beer-slinging: Gobany Depaz; pick a beer for you.

Noble Ale Works: The Good Ship ESB. According to Noble, “malts are the backbone for this pub ale and add a clean toastiness that marries perfectly with American hops; delivering a beer that drinks on the drier side of balanced”.

Gobany likes this beer because he says, “ it is freaking delicious and the guys who make it are also super cool”.

Bottles are available in the taproom now so stop by soon and take some home before they’re all gone!

Doyer Game!

Working at Eagle Rock Brewery is pretty much the jam. I mean we make beer here. And then on top of that every now and then we take these amazing field trips. Sometimes it’s to our brewery friends’ places to take a tour and drink good brews, sometimes to fun restaurants to eat amazing new foods or two weeks ago…… to scream and cheer for the DODGERS!

Oh and in case you haven’t heard…. we won this little award; BEST IN SHOW at the International Beer Festival for Equinox (our Sour Blonde Ale). We got this pretty rad little fermenter trophy (that actually functions) filled with BEER! So we emptied it (into our mouths of course) and then took the pretty thing to Dodger Stadium with 170 of our closest friends to see the game and show it off.

We’re pretty proud of the beers we brew and the amazing city we live in. Thanks for your continued support LA and hope to see you in the taproom for  a pint soon!

And special thanks to the Dodgers for beating the Giants!

Staff Pick: June

For May we decided to let our own blogger, social media maven, beer-tender and OCD-freak, ME: Tara Fulps; pick a beer for you.

As a girl from Portland, Oregon who’s been dating a brewer for the past five years (who used to work for Full Sail Brewing Co and is now Head Brewer at Golden Road Brewery); all beers that come from Hood River or Portland have a special tie to my heartstrings. But it also helps that this pick is from one of the THE MOST fantastic breweries you’ll ever try beer from. The bottle this month is none other than Oak Aged Bretta from Logsdon Farmhouse Ales.  There’s firm oak presence with spicy floral and pepper-like notes. Also a strong presence of fruit; with flavor notes such as: apricot, pear, lemon, and apple. The finish is fruity, spicy, grassy, and dry with a not insubstantial oak presence.

As described by Logsdon, “Our organic Oak Aged Bretta is made with our Seizoen Bretta that is aged for a period of time to deelop the wood aged character in the beer. Oak Tannins, vanilla notes and subtle smoky spiciness soften and mellow this beer over time. The aged unfiltered beer is refermented and carbonated in the bottle with select yeast strains to provide added dryness and complexity then sealed with beeswax for additional aging.”

Bottles are available in the taproom now so stop by soon and take some home before they’re all gone!
