So to continue the series we are going to tell you about the newest guy behind the bar and one of Eagle Rock’s newest members: Gobany Depaz.

Don’t travel much but I will have to say the Grand Canyon. Like the way the canyon looks like a projection in the middle

Sierra Nevada – No matter what style of beer you try you know they always do a great job. The Bruery – Sour Beer Collection. Russian River- Pioneers of Barrel aging Beer (YUM)

Work in the tap room and booking food trucks!

catching up on movies/TV, hiking, hitting the beach, and going out for nice dinners with friends.

Hmmm…I kind of love everything, but I would have to say tacos and guacamole. Beer: Aprihop by Dogfishhead.

Flying would be pretty sweet.

A zero calorie double IPA would be awesome!

So to continue the series we are going to tell you about the beard behind the amazing posters, labels, casks…..basically all things beautiful in beer here at Eagle Rock: Andrew Bakofsky.

1] So what do you do here at Eagle Rock Brewery anyway?

Professor of Custodial Sciences I’m told…as well as assist in the brewhouse, pour beers, design our packaging & marketing things…scrub what no one else wants to.

2] What’s your favorite activity outside of work?

Cooking, Hiking-ish with the lady, finding random LA things…porch beers.

3] What’s your best memory from your time here at the brewery? Annnnnd Go!

Probably anything that involved Grill’m All…or seeing all the folks that came to our Permit Hearing (for the sentimental touch).

4] What would be your desert island food and beer?

Beer stolen from Lee’s fridge, Goldfish crackers.

5] Superpower you want to have?

Green Lantern seems to have a pretty good setup…but without needing jewelry would be good (nor the tights). That or mind bullets.

6] If money were no option and science didn’t matter; what kind of beer would you make?

one that didn’t give you a gut or hangover, and made you wake up refreshed (and no, not Michelob Ultra, a good one)

7] If you could get rid of all of the songs from a particular singer, whose would you delete and why?

since Lee already took care of the Beatles problem, I’ll go with Morrissey.

8] What’s the best place you’ve traveled and the strangest thing you saw while there?

Prague. Drug dealer train station fiend threatening to remove my friends voicebox…next to some oozing bandaged refugee kid.

Alesmith, Kern River & Shinerbock (Spoetzl Brewery, my gateway beer many moons ago)

Rohrbach Brewing Co., Rochester, NY – Founder John Urlaub took the time to talk with me, brewed great beer, and inspired me by his example AleSmith Brewing Co., San Diego, CA – E.R.B got started with their former brewing system, they continue to grow and craft awesome beers BridgePort Brewing Co., Portland, OR – Our head brewer Erick Garcia interned there after completing his Brewers’ Guild education, thank you BridgePort!

So to continue the series we are going to tell you about the man that created most of the core brews you love, keeps the biz running and always has a smile on his face…. co-owner, Jeremy Raub.

When asked the following questions, here were Jeremy’s clever replies.

1] So what do you do here at Eagle Rock Brewery anyway?

I try to funnel the daily chaos into a concentrated laser beam, then I attach that laser beam to the head of a shark. I then try to shoot that laser beam at a moving target carried by an agitated monkey, all while riding on the back of the laser-beam-shark. It’s quite exhilarating and fun.

2] What’s your favorite activity outside of work?

Adventuring and exploring new places.

3] What’s your best memory from your time here at the brewery? Annnnnd Go!

Our very first brew day! It was such a long and tedious process to get all the licenses and permits and to build the brewery, so when we finally earned our brewing privileges, it was a huge cathartic moment.

4] What would be your desert island food and beer?

A well-made pilsner and a crispy, thin-crust margherita pizza. And some sunscreen. And a helicopter.

5] Superpower you want to have?

The ability to insert more hours into the day.

6] If money were no option and science didn’t matter; what kind of beer would you make?

Fizzy Lifting Beer…kinda like Willy Wonka’s version, but beer instead of soda

7] If you could get rid of all of the songs from a particular singer, whose would you delete and why?

I wouldn’t, because as a wise man once said: The world don’t move to the beat of just one drum…What might be right for you might not be right for some.

8] What’s the best place you’ve traveled and the strangest thing you saw while there?

Bali is one of the best and most beautiful places I’ve travelled, and that’s where I saw a mola-mola, which is one of the strangest creatures I’ve ever seen.

9] Top three favorite breweries (besides where you work) and why?

Anchor Brewing, Sierra Nevada Brewing, Stone Brewing. Because they have all managed to grow and innovate in a way that didn’t compromise the quality of their beer or the integrity of their companies.

Director of Microbiological Research… or Head Brewer.

2] What’s your favorite activity outside of work?

Exploring Los Angeles with my fiance. She’s always scouting out fun spots.

Our last anniversary party (3rd) was awesome! It is humbling to see so many people come out and celebrate with us!

4] What would be your desert island food and beer?

If it’s a desert island… it’s gotta be hot so I’ll say german pilsner and mussels.

5] Superpower you want to have?

The ability to fly so I can get off that desert island!

6] If money were no option and science didn’t matter; what kind of beer would you make?

I’d have someone build a time machine so I could travel back in time to brew some porter with George Washington.

7] If you could get rid of all of the songs from a particular singer, whose would you delete and why?

Florence and the Machine… enough said.

8] What’s the best place you’ve traveled and the strangest thing you saw while there?

Well, Brussels is near the top and it’s kind of odd that the Manneken Pis is such a huge tourist attraction.

9] Top three favorite breweries (besides where you work) and why?

Sierra Nevada, Anchor, Firestone Walker… they all make fantastic beer and rarely have I had one of their products that I didn’t like.

Meet the Team: Lee Bakofsky

So to continue the series we are going to introduce you to our production manager, mustache and ginger extraordinaire; Lee Bakofsky.

Manage Packaging. Run the Meheen. Coordinate with our distributor. Clean lots of stuff. Pour beers in the taproom.

2] What’s your favorite activity outside of work?

Homebrewing. Cooking. Traveling for food and beer.

3] What your best memory from your time here at the brewery? Annnnnd Go!

Various exploding casks. Spraying beer on ceiling while refilling barrels. Etc…

4] What would be your desert island food and beer?

Whatever’s in the fridge I guess. Thank God the island has electricity!

5] Superpower you want to have?

Flying. Invisibility. Ability to stop time for everyone but me. Etc.

Does the DEA exist in this fantasy land?
