For May we decided to let our own Co-founder and Mr. Sideburns himself; Jeremy Raub, pick a beer for you.

“Gulden Draak by Brouwerij Van Steenberge is a Belgian strong ale, deep ruby in color with a rich toffee malt character and a dry, warming finish.  It’s dangerously smooth and wonderfully balanced.  The Belfry in the city center of Ghent, Belgium bears a Golden Dragon on top, which is where this beer gets its name.  During a recent trip to Belgium, Ting and I got to visit this farm-house brewery out in the country side near Ghent, and toured the brewery with the owner.  The brewery has been in his family for five generations, and the sense of history and tradition we felt while we were at that brewery was inspiring.”

Women’s Beer Forum: Kern River Brewing Company



I’m super excited to have a very special guest out for this month’s forum. Rebecca Giddens from Kern River Brewing Company (KRBC) will be joining us to present a flight of their amazing beers. Kern River makes some of the best beers out there and it’s owned by some of the coolest people I know, so you don’t wanna miss this!

Rebecca is one of the owners at KRBC and has some amazing stories to share about being an Olympian, a brewery owner, and a mom. I dunno how this fabulous lady does it all, but I can’t wait to find out. So be sure to come out and join me in learning about Rebecca and Kern River Brewing Company. 

The Women’s Beer Forum will take place on Wednesday 5/15/13 from 7pm-9pm. The cost to attend will be $15 and includes a flight of delicious KRBC beers, a flight sheet, and some quality time with your favorite beer-drinking ladies! Be sure to RSVP soon because space will be limited.

As usual, we will also have a food truck out that night so be sure to arrive both hungry and thirsty! Hope to see y’all there!



April Women’s Forum Recap

This month we celebrated our RYE sense of humor with a flight full of deliciously diverse rye-based beers. As usual we kicked off the night with our flight sheet and our NEW Women’s Forum glassware (which you can purchase in the taproom or online) and some good eats from Bangers and Smashed!

Our flight of “rye” consisted of four brews. The first “Hoss” by Great Divide, followed by “Ruthless Rye” by Sierra Nevada, then “Sour in the Rye” from The Bruery and finally “Barrel-aged Threes” by yours truly: Eagle Rock Brewery.


Our next forum will be May 15th at 7pm.

Staff Bottle Pick: April

For March we decided to let our own Co-founder and Mr. Fixit/Tour Guide Extraordinaire; Steve Raub, pick a beer for you. Cerasus is a Flander’s Red, oak-aged ale with 45 pounds of local cherries per barrel. Says Steve of the beer, “I love good sour beers. The Cerasus has a great balance, not too sour and not too sweet. Just imagine yourself up in the hay mow of that sturdy red barn at sunset after a long day’s work, resting upon some freshly harvested bales, enjoying the view, listening to the babbling brook and savoring this finely crafted kriek beer …. Aaaahhh!”

Meet the Team: Carla Mitchell

We realize that many of you are awesome supporters of our brewery and most likely know everyone in our very small staff. BUT, for those of you that maybe haven’t seen all the faces here, and even for those of you who do…. we want to introduce you to each person. Maybe find out a few things you never knew and a bit more about what they enjoy outside of the brewing world.

So to continue the series we are going to tell you about the girl behind the food trucks that arrive, much of the bottle labeling and box-building and most frequently…. the bar; Eagle Rock’s newest member: Carla Mitchell.




When asked the following questions, here were Carla’s quick replies.

1] So what do you do here at Eagle Rock Brewery anyway?

Work in the tap room and booking food trucks!

2] What’s your favorite activity outside of work?

catching up on movies/TV, hiking, hitting the beach, and going out for nice dinners with friends.

3] What’s your best memory from your time here at the brewery? Annnnnd Go!

Looking forward to making some!

4] What would be your desert island food and beer?

Hmmm…I kind of love everything, but I would have to say tacos and guacamole. Beer: Aprihop by Dogfishhead.

5] Superpower you want to have?

Flying would be pretty sweet.

6] If money were no option and science didn’t matter; what kind of beer would you make?

A zero calorie double IPA would be awesome!

7] If you could get rid of all of the songs from a particular singer, whose would you delete and why?

Creed, duh.

8] What’s the best place you’ve traveled and the strangest thing you saw while there?

It’s a goal of mine to do more traveling.

9] Top three favorite breweries (besides where you work) and why?

Dogfish head, Odell Brewing, Goose Island

10] Where IS Waldo?
