Rough Plumbing

Woohoo!  We’re moving along at a pretty good pace…The trenching is completed, the rough plumbing is installed, and tomorrow we have our very first inspection (to close the rough plumbing).

On a side note, I spoke with our ABC agent today, and she said everything is in order for our permits to be issued.  She just needs to stop by for an inspection, which she said she would do when our construction is nearing completion.  Awesome.

Anyway, I have a lot of work to follow up on from a busy day, so I’ll keep this post nice and short.  Here’s some pictures of the sweet, sweet progress.  Cheers!

Making Progress…and Saw Cuts!

After most of the demolition was complete we were able to start cutting into the concrete to make space for the new trench drains and sewer lines.

Here you can see the guys starting the saw cuts.  The lines on the floor indicate where the new sewer pipes will run.

After a few hours of saw-cutting and jack-hammering the concrete is gone…

…like so…

Here’s the trench where the sewer-main will run (this is after lots and lots of digging).

Here’s the trench where the drains will run underneath the bar.

Just imagine – soon you’ll be able to sidle up to this bar and order a locally brewed beer!  Well ok, you may have to use a lot of imagination right now.

That’s all for now, but we’ll keep working, so I’ll post more updates soon…Onward!

Construction Has Begun!

Yes, it has been a long, long time since my last post…but in this case “no news is good news”…  After many weeks of bureaucratic drudgery, we finally got all of our approvals and our building permits were issued!

Even though there is still a lot of work to do, it feels SO good to finally pass this milestone.  Most of the remaining work is something we can physically do, so it feels like we have control of our own fate once again.  The frustrating thing about dealing with the bureaucratic process is that there is often no “end” in sight, and you are literally at the mercy of the “machine”.

Anyway…enough talk for now!  Time for action!  Here’s some pics of what we’ve been up to in the last couple weeks…
